REVIEW: Beanies Irish Cream Flavour Instant Coffee

Coffee is life. Life to me, life to many. I am a huge coffee person and can’t survive a day without my coffee. If I don’t get my coffee in the morning, I’m but a walking human shell. I’m pretty much an any coffee kinda person, as long as it is strong and not overly bitter or sweet (though I much prefer mine sugar free). This lockdown has piqued my interest on items that I will not usually reach for during normal circumstances. Like this Beanies Irish Cream Flavour Instant Coffee.

I’ve had a fair share of flavoured instant coffee. Caramel, Hazelnut and Almond are the common few. The Irish Cream coffee is a nice switch when I feel like having a little extra flavour in my morning coffee. Who knew that there was another world of flavoured coffee! I didn’t! But I am glad I found it.

So, what is the Beanies Irish Cream Flavour Instant Coffee?

Beanies pointed out that it is “probably the best flavour coffee you’ll ever taste!” – and I couldn’t agree more!

Think Baileys, minus the sugar, cream and alcohol. Its aroma and fragrance is truly one of a kind, making it a great pick me up. But of course, you’re free to add some sweetener and milk to your liking.

Beanies was established about 8 years ago in North England and has since expanded their offerings to about 30 countries worldwide. They utilise innovative technology to infuse their freeze dried coffee with all sorts of unique flavours. The Irish Cream is just one of their many unique coffee flavours. I am eyeing the Amaretto Almond and Mint Chocolate during my future shopping sprees.

My thoughts about it

Rather than having my usual coffee, I like to have something special to beat the Monday Blues and this coffee is perfect for that. Now, I find that one teaspoon of this stuff is not entirely enough for me. I love my coffee strong and somehow, one teaspoon in a mug just doesn’t cut it. I needed at least 2-3 teaspoons for that morning punch (especially more if it is a Monday).

The downside to the amazing product is that there is sadly not enough of it! There is only 50g of this product in a jar. That’s right, 50. As someone who goes through coffee like inhaling oxygen, 50 grams is definitely not enough.

I sometimes find myself adding a teaspoon of another coffee blend just to give it the extra kick I need. But on days when I have had a stronger cup of coffee and just want an extra cup, a teaspoon of this will do me just fine. I guess you can say that nice coffee does not come cheap. And since Beanies is not commonly carried by all supermarkets here, I need to ration it out.

Other than that, I have much love for this coffee. It’s something great to look forward to make better of Monday Blues and celebrate Fun Fridays!

Dalgona Coffee featuring Beanies Irish Cream Flavour Instant Coffee

I am pretty sure you’ve tried or heard of the viral Dalgona Coffee. Rich whipped coffee on your choice of cold or hot milk.

What you need:

  • 1 tbsp of Beanies Irish Cream Flavour Instant Coffee
  • 1 tbsp of hot water
  • 1 tbsp of sugar
  • Enough milk to fill about 3/4 of your glass or mug

Method:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the coffee, water and sugar until it reaches a thick foamy consistency with soft peaks. It should also turn into a lighter brown colour. You can use a whisk to manually whisk it or if you have a hand mixer, feel free to use it unless you intend to have an arm workout like I did.
  2. In a glass, add the milk until the glass is 3/4 full, then top it off with the whipped coffee.
  3. If you like iced coffee, add the ice before you add the milk in.

Luscious milk coffee! You can try it out with almond milk or soy milk if you prefer non-dairy options. It works just as great!

ENJOY!!
