So, it is the season of resolutions once again. “New Year, New Me” is part and parcel of resolutions as we all ring in the new year time after time.
Resolutions to hit the gym, to eat clean, lose weight, travel more and etc.
With each passing year, I have made the same resolutions. Some saw itself through to the next year, others were given a number to join the queue of next year’s resolutions.
That being said, I will not be attempting the same resolutions as I had before. This year, I hope to make it a bit more different for myself.
In the past, my resolutions have been so body image focused. I did achieve my goals, but as always, once you have reached a certain goal, you would be all psyched up and would try to get to a newly set up goal past the initial goal you had earlier set. It sounds good and all but we tend to forget the humane side of the resolutions we made. One can declare to lose 10kg, work hard for it, achieve it and will likely still push for an extra 5 or 10kg. The constant battle with your own body won’t do you any good. And it took me a number of yearly resolutions to come to terms with it.
So I think it is safe to say that one of my resolutions this year will be to learn self-love.
In the spirit of resolutions, a snapshot of my list sees me planning to travel more this year, venture into the unknown and attempt to try writing (something I had always wanted to do but never got around to doing it).
So all the best to everyone who has made their resolutions! I look forward to striking my resolutions off one by one and not have them queue up again for next year’s list.
